MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (April 26, 2013) — Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that Matthew Shea, a principal in the Trust, Estates & Charitable Planning practice group, is the recipient of the 2013 Dean’s Award for Outstanding Teaching from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. As an adjunct professor, Shea teaches the courses “Wills, Trusts, & Estates,” and “Estate Planning and Estate Administration.”
Shea and Marya Robben of Lindquist & Vennum are two adjunct professors who teach Wills, Trusts, & Estates together, and they both received the award this year. In presenting the award to the duo, Dean Rob Vischer cited their consistently stellar teaching evaluations and quoted one evaluation form on which a student proclaimed, “The Robben-Shea dynamic duo has this course in the bag. Don’t change a thing.”
Each year, the University of St. Thomas School of Law presents Mission Awards to faculty, staff, students and alumni for their contributions to the school’s mission. This year’s winners were announced at a lunchtime ceremony on April 15.
Shea practices in the areas of estate planning, business and farm succession planning, estate and trust administration, fiduciary litigation, and international estate and tax planning. He works with families, executives, business owners, dentists, and physicians to address their estate planning issues.
