Presented by: U.S. Green Building Council - Minnesota Chapter
On Wednesday, October 19 the U.S. Green Building Council – Minnesota Chapter (USGBCMN) will host its 7th Annual Meeting. The event, held at the Westin Edina Galleria, beings at 4:30 p.m. with networking, exhibits and silent auction bidding. This year, the Chapter welcomes, Richard Murphy Jr. ASLA, as the evenings keynote speaker. Murphy’s presentation, “LEEDing the Grounds: Finding Economic and Sustainable Returns” will begin at 6 p.m. The Annual Meeting provides members, and those interested in sustainability, LEED and other green building elements an opportunity to hear, and understand, the achievements of USGBCMN in 2011, as well as learn what the Chapter will work toward during 2012.
As the built environment fundamentally impacts peoples' lives and our planet's health, the mission of the Minnesota Chapter is to positively transform the building processes, building industry and communities of Minnesota, by drawing upon the experience of stakeholders in the built environment. The Chapter promotes the design, construction and operation of buildings and communities that are healthy places to live and work, environmentally responsible and economically viable on a lifecycle basis. The Chapter serves its members and communities by promoting best practices in design and technology usage, advocating green building policies and facilitating information exchange and education. The Chapter encourages the widespread acceptance and use of the LEED® Green Building Rating SystemTM and other complementary tools and standards.
