Kirsten Donaldson provides strategic advice to clients on trademark and copyright development, registration, and licensing agreements. She also advises on enforcement measures, including trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and on copyright and trademark litigation before the U.S. District Courts.
Utilizing almost 10 years of experience in Washington, D.C. where she worked at an international law firm, as well as on intellectual property law matters at Congress and the Intellectual Property Owners Association, Kirsten is well-versed in helping clients think creatively and holistically to address their intellectual property concerns. Having been closely involved with the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, the Defend Trade Secrets Act, music modernization legislation, and the establishment of the USPTO Law School Clinic Certification Program, Kirsten regularly helps companies protect their intellectual property across all branches of government. Her recent matters have involved industries as diverse as financial services, telecommunications, medical devices, electronics, biotechnology, standards setting, software, food, apparel, technology, pharmaceuticals, medical cannabis companies, and startups with subject matters traversing data privacy, patent eligible subject matter, trade secret misappropriation, and trademark and copyright enforcement matters, among others.
During her LL.M. program in Intellectual Property Law at The George Washington University Law School, Kirsten worked as a trademark attorney assistant at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She earned her J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, and her B.A. in economics and political science from California Lutheran University.
