In 2002, Gray Plant Mooty combined with the law firm of Hall & Byers, bringing together one of Minnesota’s top ten law firms with one of the most influential business law practices in St. Cloud. Established in 1932, Hall & Byers offered legal services in the areas of business and succession planning, personal estate planning, tax advising, business mergers and acquisition, commercial financing, litigation, real estate transactions and development, agriculture, reorganizations and bankruptcy, employment law, personal injury, and family law.
The move to combine these law firms represented a new and innovative investment in the St. Cloud area. Hall & Byers and Gray Plant Mooty both possessed exceptional business law experience, shared various clients throughout Minnesota and surrounding states, and held similar cultural values and commitment to their communities. The merger came about because Gray Plant Mooty recognized that its clients and other businesses in Greater Minnesota were facing business and legal challenges requiring a broader range of legal resources than were currently available outside the Twin Cities. The merger brought to the St. Cloud community our combined professional experience and legal expertise to provide exceptional services for our clients.
Gray Plant Mooty is recognized as one of the leading corporate law firms in Minnesota and one of the top franchise firms in the world. Our roots go back to 1866. Today, we are a full-service firm with nearly 180 attorneys and offices in Minneapolis and St. Cloud, Minnesota; Washington, D.C.; and Fargo, North Dakota.
