Gray Plant Mooty’s new office space in Washington, DC, was the setting for a breakfast seminar sponsored by the American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists, in partnership with the Embassy of Israel. Yehoshua Gurtler spoke on “Challenges and Opportunities: Israel, the Palestinians, and the United Nations.”
Gurtler is an associate with the firm Herzog, Fox & Neeman. He is a former Israel Military Prosecutor and legal assistant to the Israel Military Advocate General. In his talk, he focused on the legal aspects of the upcoming vote in the UN General Assembly on upgrading the Palestinian delegation to state-like status via a unilateral declaration of independence. He noted that, for lawyers, it is important not to lose sight of the importance and implications of international law when dealing with Israeli-Palestinian relations.
