Brian is an associate in the Business & General Litigation practice group. Brian represents businesses and individuals involved in all types of commercial disputes, and he specializes in cases, negotiations, and transactions that involve government regulators. Brian regularly assists clients in their efforts to avoid or respond to government investigations and enforcement matters, and to participate in regulatory proceedings.
Before joining Gray Plant Mooty, Brian served as an assistant attorney general in the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office under Attorneys General Mike Hatch and Lori Swanson. Before moving to Minnesota, Brian worked as an associate in the Madison office of a large Wisconsin law firm.
Experience
- Significant experience representing businesses, advocacy organizations, and other groups in administrative, regulatory, and litigation matters, particularly in the areas of health care and insurance, campaign finance and election law, fraud and white collar investigations, land use and zoning, and fair trade practices
- Represents businesses and individuals in disputes involving allegations of fraud, fraudulent transfer, embezzlement, and breach of fiduciary duty
- Advises nonprofit organizations in their formation, advocacy, political, and fundraising activities
- Served as counsel for the State of Minnesota in health, antitrust, and consumer fraud enforcement matters
- Managed complex litigation involving the construction of new hospitals, the marketing and sale of investment products and living trusts, and the enforcement of health, insurance, consumer fraud, and antitrust laws
