Gene represents business clients throughout the United States who are engaged in a wide spectrum of business endeavors. These clients have legal needs ranging from basic business formation issues to complex problems of corporate finance faced by major financial and manufacturing institutions. Most of Gene’s present client engagements are transactional in nature, requiring both legal expertise and experienced business judgment to bring to successful conclusion. A number of clients that were originally incorporated by Gene have grown over the course of the past two decades to become substantial businesses.

Prior to joining Gray Plant Mooty, Gene spent three years on the faculty at the Valparaiso University School of Law and also served as managing partner at a mid-size law firm in Minneapolis.

When Gene is not practicing law, he can often be found pursuing his “second love” of teaching both at the William Mitchell College of Law and the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Since 1979, Gene has had the privilege of teaching courses in corporate finance, secured transactions, debtor/creditor law and insurance to over 2,000 embryonic Minnesota lawyers. Although undoubtedly forgotten by many, he still is remembered fondly by a number of students who continue to call with questions long after graduation.
