Barry practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, tax law, and closely held businesses. Barry has worked extensively with corporate, partnership, and individual clients to achieve their business goals in the most tax-efficient means possible. He is also a frequent lecturer at seminars on corporate and tax issues.
Barry has also represented closely held companies in shareholder disputes and in dealings with minority shareholders implementing strategies such as redemptions and tax-free divisions to facilitate a creative resolution.

- Assisted public and private companies in restructurings, recapitalizations, redemptions, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
- Acted as lead counsel and/or tax counsel on transactions ranging from hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions of dollars
- Assisted family-owned investment partnerships with a range of issues including organization, investment of assets, redemptions, dissolutions, and tax issues
- Represented investors and issuers in private placements of debt and equity securities
- Assisted companies and shareholders in shareholder dispute situations, resulting in redemptions, split-ups and other negotiated solutions
- Represented manufacturers and sales representatives in connection with relationship formation, contracts, terminations, and disputes
- Represented taxpayers in audit, appeal, and tax controversy situations at the federal and state levels
