MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 3, 2011) — The Minneapolis-based law firm of Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that Angela L. Rud has rejoined the firm as a principal in the Employment and Labor practice group after working nine years on the client side, most recently as executive vice president of human resources and senior employment law counsel for a large, global fast food franchisor.

Rud practiced employment law at Gray Plant Mooty from 1996 to 2002, then gained extensive business experience and knowledge in the retail, restaurant, and franchise industries while working in her senior management role. She was responsible for all human resources functions, including workplace ethics and global employment law compliance, talent management, organizational development, employee relations, and compensation and benefits. She uses her business knowledge and experience to work closely with employers to identify solid human resources practices designed to minimize risk and prevent employment claims.

Rud has represented business clients in the courts, arbitrations, alternative dispute resolution programs, and before administrative agencies. She regularly advises businesses on legal issues affecting the workplace, and also provides training on employment-related compliance topics, including harassment prevention, workplace ethics and compliance, discrimination law, diversity, managing leaves, effectively addressing employee performance problems, and avoiding claims upon termination.

Rud received both her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Kansas.
