Gray Plant Mooty: Advancing Diversity in Twin Cities Legal Community
Gray Plant Mooty has joined forces with major Twin Cities law firms to form Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, a collaborative consortium of local law firms and others dedicated to advancing diversity in the Twin Cities legal community. The mission of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice is to provide significant resources to accelerate the efforts of its members to identify, recruit, advance and retain lawyers of color in Minnesota’s legal community.
Gray Plant Mooty’s Managing Officer, Bruce Mooty says, “By working together – we can and will achieve more – this is why Gray Plant Mooty is thrilled to be an incorporating member of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice. As the longest standing law firm in Minneapolis, we recognize that a diverse workforce is integral to our success and the community we live in and support. Promoting and integrating diversity at every level within our firm and in everything we do, is a key component of our mission.”
The main functions provided by Twin Cities Diversity in Practice through the resources of its members, include:
- Implementing programs to identify, hire, retain and promote lawyers of color.
- Providing support to lawyers of color by sponsorship of forums, roundtable discussions, receptions and other networking opportunities.
- Conducting outreach programs to law students of color.
- Acting as resources for and coordinating initiatives with law schools, law school placement directors, student organizations, bar associations, and other professional organizations.
