James S. Simonson Appointed to Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Appellate Procedure
Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that James S. Simonson, a principal in GPM’s Litigation practice group, was appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Appellate Procedure. Simonson was appointed by Chief Justice Eric J. Magnuson to serve a two-year term on the Committee, which is tasked with reviewing and improving the Rules of civil appellate procedure. The Committee is chaired by The Honorable Jill Flaskamp Halbrooks, a judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
A Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, Simonson practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, including antitrust, and products liability law, at both the trial and appellate court levels. He has tried scores of cases in the state and federal courts, and has prosecuted or defended numerous appeals in both of these areas in the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, as well as in the United States Court of Appeals.
Named one of The Best Lawyers in America every year since its inception in 1983, Simonson is also consistently named a "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law & Politics. He has been ranked by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as one of Minnesota’s top general commercial trial lawyers every year since 2003. In addition, he was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society.
Simonson graduated from the University of Wisconsin and received his law degree from Harvard Law School. His term on the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee began July 1, 2008
