Higher Education Breakfast Briefing: Arr Matey! Digital Piracy on Campus and New Federal Requirements to Address Peer-to-Peer File Sharing
Since the birth of digital media on college and university campuses nearly two decades ago, the illegal “pirating” of music and movie files has been a source of contention for the music and recording industry—and a source of frustration for college and university administrators. Now colleges and universities must comply with the new procedures, policies, and reporting requirements for eliminating media piracy buried deep within the Higher Education Opportunities Act (P.L. 110-315, enacted Aug. 14, 2008).
This breakfast will give an overview of the anti-piracy provisions in the Act, as well as provide guidance on effectively complying with the new requirements and communicating these policies to students on your campuses.
