Please join us for the I-9 compliance edition of our continuing HR Compliance Breakfast Briefing series. I-9 employment verification compliance continues to be a hot topic for businesses. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services recently updated the Form I-9 and the U.S. Senate has passed a sweeping immigration reform bill that includes, among other things, a provision that would make participation in the E-Verify system mandatory for all employers. Although its not clear whether the federal government will pass mandatory E-Verify legislation in the near future, many states are now requiring the use of E-Verify for some or all employers because of the complexity and ongoing changes to immigration laws. It is important that employers get the information they need to ensure compliance.
This briefing will focus on I-9 and E-Verify compliance in this changing landscape and will discuss best practices for employers to address their compliance obligations.
