Sam Sigelman focuses his practice in banking and lending issues, including work outs, litigation, and receiverships. He has obtained multimillion-dollar awards for clients, both at trial and by summary judgment.

Sam is the former president of the Hamline University School of Law Alumni Board and regularly lectures on receiverships and lending litigation issues and was a member of the drafting committee that drafted Minnesota's comprehensive receivership statute that became law in 2012. In addition, he has taught Payment Systems at the Hamline University School of Law.

Before pursuing his J.D., Sam was a producer for the Twin Cities sports radio station KFAN and for ABC/ESPN, where he earned a sports Emmy nomination for his work on ESPN baseball broadcasts.

  • Northern National Bank n/k/a Frandsen Bank & Trust v. Wiczek, et al., 2011 WL 1833100 (Minn. Ct. App. May 16, 2011) (Re-establishes Minnesota law on the limited viability of a third-party beneficiary right to a loan, and debtors lack of standing to pursue their counterclaims after their bankruptcy filing).
  • Am. Bank of St. Paul v. Coating Specialties, Inc., 787 N.W.2d 202 (Minn. Ct. App. 2010) (Establishes new law related to subordination agreements among lenders).
  • F-M Mortg. Corp. v. Am. Bank of St. Paul, 2009 WL 4506297, (D.Minn. Nov. 25, 2009) (Re-establishes bank’s right to setoff).
  • In re Moe, 2006 WL 4711887, (Bankr. D.Minn. Nov. 17, 2006) (trial results in a $2,286,422.21 verdict).
