Throughout her 30 years of health law practice in Minnesota, Mary has devoted her career to representing businesses of all sizes across the healthcare industry. She regularly advises health and human services providers on employment matters such as discrimination claims, terminations, employee handbooks, employee contracts, regulatory matters involving HIPAA and client records, and professional licensure. She has testified before state legislature on behalf of her clients, who include foster care homes, waivered services providers, community mental health centers, personal car assistant agencies, home health agencies, and individuals providers.
Mary founded her own firm in 1984 and transitioned from private practice to the Gray Plant Mooty Health & Nonprofit Organizations Practice Group from 1991-1997, and again in 2014. A frequent presenter on administrative law, she is also owner of Administrative Law Reports, a publication reporting on state administrative law cases heard in Minnesota. Mary previously served as staff counsel to the Minnesota Association of Health Care Providers (Care Providers of Minnesota) and as a governmental affairs specialist for the Association of Residential Resources in Minnesota.
A former member of the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities area, Mary enjoys travel, genealogy, reading, gardening, and refinishing furniture in her spare time.
