“Masquerade Ball” was the theme of the 2013 MABL Scholarship Gala, held on Saturday, November 9, and GPM was well represented by a group of attorneys, staff members, and summer associate Leah Leyendecker, along with spouses and guests. The Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers (MABL) is Minnesota’s leading minority bar association whose mission is to promote and support the professional development of Black lawyers, judges, and law students in the state. At the event, Minneapolis Superintendent Bernadeia Johnson was awarded the MABL Profile in Courage Award for her work in closing the minority student achievement gap, and Judge Joe Brown gave a rousing keynote speech. The highlight of the evening for the GPM group was the announcement of the scholarship winners, because Leah received the Pamela Alexander Scholarship, which includes a monetary award and an externship with Judge Alexander. Congratulations, Leah!
